The Baseball Hall of Fame has partnered with the Otschodela Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways to provide a fun patch for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts who visit the Museum in Cooperstown. Scouts can earn the patch when they complete a Museum Discovery Tour designed to guide them through the Museum, with a special focus on virtues and character traits exemplified by those involved in Scouting.
Scouts search the Museum to find the answers to educational questions and learn more about the rich history of the National Pastime. Upon completion of the Discovery Tour, Scout leaders can mail the finished tour and patch payment directly to the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways or the Otschodela Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The patches will then be mailed to the troop leaders or parents.
The Boy Scout Discovery Tour will feature a Scavenger Hunt patch. The Girl Scout Discovery Tour was developed by Troop 286 from Cooperstown, N.Y., which worked with the Museum's Education Department to help design the tour. This program marks the debut of the Girl Scouts Discovery Tour at the Hall of Fame. For more information, visit the hall of Fame Web site at baseballhall.org or call 888-HALL-OF-FAME (888-425-5633) or 607-547-7200.

Scouting is about learning new things, having outdoor experiences, and working together as a troop. Howe Caverns gives scouts an opportunity to do all that and more. In addition to learning about pre-historic seas, sedimentation and the power of erosion, boy scouts can participate in our scavenger hunt to earn a Howe Caverns patch.
Your scouts' amazing learning experience begins when they descend 156 feet below the Earth's surface and step out of the elevator into a six million year old cavern, carved by a subterranean river that continues to sculpt the cave today. During this fun field trip, they will see countless layers of sedimentary limestone, the floor of an ancient sea, and navigate the 500 foot serpentine passage known as the Winding Way, one of the world's best examples of underground water erosion.
Simply put... a field trip to Howe Caverns exposes scouts to aspects of the natural world they simply can't experience anywhere else. So when you're planning your scout activities, make sure you include a fun field trip to Howe Caverns. It's one of those scout activities they'll remember for the rest of their lives!
